MUFLL encourages all head coaches and assistant coaches to be certified as per the CLA Development Model. The level of certification will be discussed at our first MUFLL general meeting. At this point, any of our coaches who have taken certification in the 2005, 2006 or 2007 seasons should confirm their certification with the League (and complete workbooks asap). Any new coaches should take a certification clinic this year. More info to follow!
The following is the CLA standard:
CLA Coach Development Model
For field lacrosse, Community Coach Development is an entry level certification. The next level is Competitive Coach Introduction followed by Competitive Coach Development. Competitive Coach Development would be the preferred standard for University level coaches. As the notes state, any coach can 'challenge' Competitive Coach Introduction and Development by passing the evaluation stage of these certifications.
The following is the standard set in previous years:
New Coaches (no previous lacrosse training)
Coaches (previous training- September 2005)
New Coaches
Coaches (previous training)
If your workbook has been misplaced, one can be downloaded from the Canadian Lacrosse Association’s website.
Completed workbooks are to be sent to:

There will be a coach certification clinic (level to be determined) the weekend of September 6 and 7 in Halifax, organized by the Nova Scotia Field Lacrosse League. Details are yet to be determined, however, please make an effort to confirm home game times that weekend that will allow your attendance at this clinic. It is likely that the clinic will be all day on Saturday and the morning on Sunday. If you can time your home games for Sunday afternoon/evening or Friday night that weekend, that would help. The SMU/Dal game that weekend will not conflict.
