STFX beats UNB 14-6

Playing their second game in two days, UNB travelled to Antigonish, Nova Scotia , facing the undefeated 4-0 STFX X-men.

Playing their second game in two days, UNB travelled to Antigonish, facing the undefeated 4-0 STFX X-Men. Scoring after one quarter of play saw STFX up 2-1, with a 5-2 second frame had the X-men taking a 7-3 halftime lead. A 4-0 third quarter extended the lead 11-3, followed by an even 3-3 fourth quarter. STFX won 14-6 and moves to 5-0 while UNB falls to 1-5.

Alex Miller opened up the scoring for UNB 11:50 into the first quarter. STFX replied with two tallies of their own by Connor Clarkson, taking a 2-1 into the second.

A 5-2 second quarter saw Ian McShane add a hat-trick and Clarkson added two more goals for STFX. Miller ended the X-Men run with his second of the game and John Grant added a late first half goal for UNB. 

STFX took a 7-3 halftime lead before scoring four goals in the third quarter, two by Jimmy Shea. Everett Watters and McShane added singles in the frame, ending 11-3 STFX.

Shea opened the fourth quarter scoring 2:20 in, on an unassisted goal. John Newman answered back for UNB with a goal of his own, followed by Shea again. Miller added two quick goals for UNB before McShane ended the quarter scoring, even at 3-3.

McShane finished with seven points on five goals and two assists for STFX. Shea had six points (4,2), Clarkson five (4,1), and Watters had a goal. Zach Leblanc picked up the win in nets.

Miller paced UNB with four goals while Grant and Newman were the other goal scorers. Caleb Parker added an assist and Matt McConnell was in nets for the Buccaneers.
