WEEK 5 Recap

Three games last weekend saw Acadia beat Mt A 25-2, UNB beat Acadia 11-10 and STFX beat SMU 14-8.

Week 5 in Maritime University Field Lacrosse League saw three games take place last weekend, with Acadia making a swing thru New Brunswick and STFX hosted Saint Mary's.

The Acadia Axemen beat the Mount A Mounties 25-2 Saturday morning in Sackville, NB. First and second quarter scores of 6-0 and 7-1 saw Acadia up 13-1 at half. A 6-0 third quarter had the Axemen up 19-1 after three and a 6-1 final frame had it 25-2 Acadia, who improve to 4-1 while Mount A fall to 0-6.

Playing their second game in two games, the Acadia Axemen made the drive from Sackville to College Field in Fredericton, taking on the host UBB Buccaneers Sunday morning in a losing effort 11-10. Quarter scores of 3-1 and 4-3 had UNB up 7-4 at half. An even 3-3 third quarter gave UNB a 10-7 lead heading into the final frame. A 3-1 Acadia fourth quarter was not enough as UNB held onto the 11-10 win. Acadia drops to 4-2 while UNB improves to 2-5.

STFX hosted Saint Mary's last Sunday evening, winning 14-8. A close 3-2 opening quarter for X, saw them extend their lead with a 4-1 second quarter score, taking a 7-3 halftime lead. An even 4-4 third quarter had X up 11-7 going into the final frame. A 3-1 fourth quarter saw X win 14-8. STFX improves to 6-0 while SMU drops to 0-5.

WEEK 6 is a bye week for all teams to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday.

Week 7 resumes Friday Oct. 16 at 830pm with SMU hosting Mount A, Sat Oct. 17 1pm sees UNB at Mt A and Sunday Oct 18 has SMU at Acadia at 5:30pm.
