The Maritime University Field Lacrosse League wrapped up another exciting season this past weekend in Sackville, NB.
The weekend opened with quarterfinal action on Friday night. UNB advanced with a 13-3 win over host Mount Allison, thanks to a monster seven-goal performance from Michael Gallop and four more from Braden Galbraith. In the other quarterfinal, #10 ranked Dalhousie defeated UPEI 11-5, backstopped by an outstanding effort in goal from TJ Cornell-Nixon, who kept the Panthers’ attack at bay.
In semifinal play, #2 nationally ranked StFX took control early against UNB and never looked back, earning a 14-7 win led by rookie standout Daniel Creureur, who posted five points in the victory. The other semifinal was a defensive battle, with Dalhousie pulling off a stunning 5-4 upset over #4 ranked Saint Mary’s to punch their ticket to the championship game.
Sunday’s final saw StFX’s depth and composure shine through. It marked the 17th time in league history that StFX and Dal have met in the finals; two programs with deep roots and a fierce rivalry that once again delivered a thrilling conclusion to the season. The X-Men dictated the pace on both sides of the ball, breaking through Dal’s defensive structure and holding strong in their own end to secure the 11-5 win and the long-awaited championship title.
A huge thank-you goes out to all the officials, volunteers, players, and fans who made the 2025 season possible and memorable.
