After seven weeks of regular-season action, the stage is officially set for the 2025 MUFLL Playoffs. Four teams will battle it out in this Friday's quarterfinals for a chance to advance and keep their title hopes alive in Saturday's matchups against the top two seeds.
In the opening matchup, the #4 seed UNB Reds (5-5) will play the #5 seed Mount Allison Mounties (2-8). The Reds finished the season strong, bouncing back from a slow start to reach the .500 mark and secure home-field advantage. Meanwhile, the Mounties enter the playoffs hungry to pull off an upset after showing flashes of improvement throughout the regular season. The two programs met twice earlier this fall, with UNB taking both games, but as every lacrosse fan knows, the playoffs are a different story.
The second quarterfinal features the #3 seed Dalhousie Tigers (5-5) facing the #6 seed UPEI Panthers (0-10). Dal enters the postseason looking to regain early-season form after a rollercoaster stretch down the final weeks. The Tigers will rely on their offensive depth and veteran presence to push past a gritty UPEI squad that’s shown plenty of fight despite a winless campaign. The Panthers, meanwhile, have nothing to lose, a dangerous position for any underdog come playoff time.
Awaiting the winners are two of the league’s top contenders: the #1 seed StFX X-Men, who will meet the winner of the UNB-Mount Allison matchup, and the #2 seed Saint Mary’s Huskies, who will take on the winner of Dalhousie-UPEI. Both top seeds have enjoyed extra rest and will be eager to make their mark when Championship Weekend arrives.
